Contactary Support

Help with contact access, cleanup, backups, importing and purchases.

Contactary is developed and operated by Fadi Halik. For product help, purchase-access issues, privacy questions or feedback, email support@siliconmac.com. Support is available by email in English and Arabic.

Contact support

Describe what you were trying to do and what happened. Include your device model, operating-system version, Contactary version and the exact error message, if one appeared. If you include a screenshot, hide contact names, phone numbers, email addresses and other private details first.

Do not send your Apple Account password, payment-card details, backup passcode or an entire address book. We can usually investigate a problem using a description and a redacted screenshot. If a sample file is needed, use fictional contacts and contact us before sending it.

Messages are reviewed by the developer. Response times vary; email support is not an emergency or immediate-response service.

Getting started and contact access

The welcome tour introduces the main features and lets you choose when to connect your contacts. You can replay it from Settings → About → Welcome tour. Skipping the tour does not unlock contact access automatically.

To connect later, use Connect my contacts on Home. If you previously denied access, open your device’s Settings, find Contactary’s Contacts permission and change the access you allow. Permission controls and wording vary by operating system. Where Apple offers limited access, Contactary can work only with the contacts you have shared.

If the list is empty or counts seem lower than expected, check which contacts are visible in Apple Contacts, check the accounts enabled there, review Contactary’s permission and then use Refresh in Contactary. Contactary does not supply an online address book or download contacts from our servers.

Free analysis and the one-time unlock

Browsing, search, filters and contact analysis are free. A one-time in-app purchase unlocks actions such as merging, deleting, correcting phone numbers, importing, exporting and working with backups. There is no subscription. The purchase screen shows the current price in your App Store currency before you confirm.

If you already purchased the unlock, open Settings → Contactary Unlock → Restore Purchases. Use the Apple Account that made the purchase and make sure you have an internet connection. If Apple cannot find an eligible purchase, check your Apple purchase history before buying again. Refunded or revoked purchases may no longer provide access.

Restore Purchases restores purchase access. It does not restore contact data or a backup file.

Apple handles App Store payments and refund requests. To request a refund, visit https://reportaproblem.apple.com. Eligibility is determined under Apple’s policies and applicable consumer law. Contact us for problems with the app itself.

Reviewing cleanup suggestions

Use Clean to review possible duplicates, repeated phone or email fields, missing information, suspicious entries and phone-format suggestions. A suggestion is a prompt to check a record; it does not prove that two people are the same or that a number is wrong.

Review the affected records and the confirmation before applying a change. Merging combines information into a retained contact and deletes redundant records. Deleting contacts can be permanent. Changes are made to Apple Contacts and may sync to your other devices through the accounts you use. Make a backup before bulk changes.

Phone formats and regions

Open Settings → Phone Numbers → Phone Number Region to choose the region used for numbers that do not include an international country code. Choose the region that matches those numbers, rather than assuming that your device’s region always matches your address book.

Contacts by Region groups numbers using their dialing information. It does not track anyone’s location or determine nationality. Unknown regions can occur when numbers lack a recognizable country code or cannot be interpreted reliably. Review any proposed country-code changes before applying them.

Creating and exporting a backup

  1. Open Settings → Contacts → Backup & Restore and create a backup before changing your address book.
  2. Review the backup’s date and contact count. Use Verify Backup when available to check that Contactary can read the saved file.
  3. Choose Export Backup. Enter and confirm a four-digit passcode. An email recipient is optional.
  4. Review the export, choose Create Protected Export, and wait for encryption and verification to complete.
  5. Save or share the resulting .ccbackup file using the options available on your device. Keep the passcode separately from the file.

A local backup is a vCard snapshot of the contacts accessible to the app. The local vCard file is not passcode-encrypted. Protected export creates a separate encrypted file; it does not encrypt or remove the original local backup.

A four-digit passcode provides limited protection against guessing. Keep exported files in private storage and share them only through a channel you trust. Contactary does not hold a recovery key and support cannot recover a forgotten passcode. Do not use this backup as your only copy of important contacts.

Importing and restoring contacts

  1. Choose Import Contact List from Contacts or Clean, or from Backup & Restore.
  2. Choose a vCard (.vcf) file or a Contactary protected export (.ccbackup). Files may be selected from the locations available in your device’s file picker.
  3. For a protected export, enter its four-digit passcode and choose Unlock and Review.
  4. Review the contacts and confirm the import to add them to Apple Contacts.

Import adds new records; it does not replace your current address book or automatically remove matching records. Importing the same file repeatedly may create duplicates. A recovery test previews the contents of a protected export without saving them to Apple Contacts; use import if you want to add them.

If importing fails, confirm that the file is supported, contains contact records, is fully downloaded and is readable from its storage location. For protected files, check the passcode. A wrong passcode and a damaged file can both prevent decryption. Contactary cannot recover an inaccessible file from our servers.

Recently added contacts

Contactary starts recording contact history when tracking begins on that installation. Existing contacts do not receive an invented creation date. First Detected means when Contactary noticed a new entry, which may differ from when the entry was originally created. Added in Contactary records additions made through the app. Use the time-range control to adjust the list.

Language, appearance and Apple Vision Pro

In Settings, choose System, English or Arabic for the app language and System, Light or Dark for appearance. Arabic uses a right-to-left layout. Some Apple permission prompts, file pickers and share interfaces follow the device language rather than Contactary’s language setting.

On Apple Vision Pro, use the native side tab interface and Apple’s selection controls. Available file-sharing and email options depend on the apps and services installed on the device. If a control does not respond, include the screen name, device software version and steps to reproduce it in your support email.

Privacy and data removal

Contactary analyzes contacts on your device and does not upload your address book to the developer. You can revoke Contacts permission in device Settings. Delete local backups from Backup & Restore and delete exported files from any locations where you saved them. Deleting the app removes its local app data; offloading it may retain that data. Neither action removes contacts already saved in Apple Contacts, copies you shared, or copies retained in device backups or synced services.

For questions about information you have sent to support, or to request its deletion, email support@siliconmac.com. We cannot remotely retrieve, edit or delete your on-device address book.
