Summary
SteadyMac works entirely on your Mac. It has no accounts, analytics, advertising, crash reporting or tracking, and it does not send your files, scan results or any personal information to us or to anyone else.
Information processed on your Mac
To show storage use, apps, sensors, fans, audio and window previews, SteadyMac reads information on your Mac, such as file names, sizes and locations, installed apps, hardware sensor readings and open windows. All of this is processed on your Mac and is never uploaded.
macOS permissions
Some features need permissions that you grant in System Settings, for example disk access, accessibility, screen recording or audio access. SteadyMac uses each permission only for the feature that needs it. You can withdraw a permission at any time in System Settings › Privacy & Security.
Update checks
SteadyMac checks for updates by downloading a signed update feed from siliconmac.com. Like any internet request, this reveals your IP address and includes the app’s version to our hosting provider, Cloudflare, as described in the SiliconMac website privacy policy. Update checks contain no files, scan results or other personal content.
macOS installer downloads
If you choose to download a macOS installer, SteadyMac downloads it directly from Apple’s servers, and Apple’s privacy policy applies to that download. If you use an installer you already have, no internet connection is needed. Apart from update checks and installer downloads, SteadyMac works fully offline.
Storage and deletion
SteadyMac’s settings and results are stored only on your Mac. You can remove them by deleting the app and its files. We hold no SteadyMac data about you, and there is no account to delete.
Children
SteadyMac does not collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will publish the updated version on this page with a new effective date.
